Alfiya – A budding teacher

Thank you for sending Alfiya to school for an entire year.

An all-rounder, six year old Alfiya Ansari is soft spoken and helpful. Being disciplined and orderly, Alfiya enjoys setting up the classroom and emulating her teachers. Alfiya is currently studying in Jal, Aseema’s Pre-Primary Centre at the Kherwadi Municipal School in Bandra East.

Alfiya can communicate well in English. However, her shyness prevents her from responding promptly. She can read simple phonetic books and has made a small booklet on ‘lines and circles’. She has good handwriting. With the help of the Montessori apparatus, Alfiya can perform addition, subtraction and multiplication up to four digits and understands formation of numbers. She has also learnt shapes of objects as well as days of the week and month.

Alfiya can identify colours and looks forward to weekly art classes. Alfiya’s teachers are proud of her progress and are confident that she will be promoted to Standard I. Alfiya has great support from her parents, who live in a small room in a slum community in Bandra East.
