Thank you for providing an entire year of education to Husaif Patel.
Five year old Husaif lives with his parents and three sisters in a slum community in Bandra East. His father works as a tailor and his mother, a housewife, takes care of all the children. Being the sole bread winner, Husaif’s father can barely make ends meet.
Prior to joining Aseema, Husaif attended a government-run pre-school, which provided a few health services but neglected education. His parents were keen on Husaif getting a good education and enrolled him at Aseema’s Pre-Primary Centre at the Kherwadi Municipal School in Bandra East.
This is Husaif’s first year in school. He loves coming to school and learning through the Montessori Approach. Within a year, Husaif has grown confident and sensitive. He comprehends instructions in English and makes an attempt to speak the language. He can identify consonants and vowels, as well as read simple phonetic books. In Mathematics, he can identify numbers from 0-100 and perform additions and subtractions up to 4-digits.
An energetic child, Husaif enjoys sports and judo. He has been on study trips to Patwardhan Park – a local garden, the Nehru Science Centre and the Taraporewala Aquarium. He loved watching dinosaur relics at the Science Centre.
Husaif looks forward to being promoted to Standard I next year.
