Thank you for supporting Indu’s education for an entire year.
Eight year old Indu Sharma studies in Standard II at the Pali Chimbai Municipal School supported by Aseema. Some months ago, she lost her father to Tuberculosis. Her mother works as domestic help to support Indu and her three siblings. They live in extremely difficult circumstances in a slum community in Bandra West. Since her mother works long hours, Indu looks after her younger brothers.
Indu’s challenging home environment has made her remarkably independent and responsible. She is always cheerful and neatly dressed. The ‘Activity Based Learning’ approach caters to Indu’s love for learning. She enthusiastically participates in all activities and enjoys sports, work experience and music.
Indu has developed good communication skills. She enjoys reading and is often found browsing through picture books in the library corner in class. She makes an effort to learn new words. In Mathematics, she knows all the basic operations and geometry as well as understands the concept of quantity.
On the Annual Day, Indu and her friends participated in a skit on Mumbai. She has been on excursions to the Museum, Patwardhan Park and the Mazgaon Hill. She enjoyed watching the Mumbai Port from the Mazgaon Hill.
