Mohini loves History – Aseema Charitable Trust

Dear Joe,

Seven year old Mohini Gupta thanks you for gifting a year of schooling to her.

Mohini lives in a rental room measuring 10 x 10 in Bandra East. Her father, a contract labourer struggles to support Mohini and her two sisters. Often, there isn’t enough money to buy basic necessities. Mohini’s parents take great interest in their children’s education.

Despite challenging circumstances, Mohini comes to school regularly with a big smile and a desire to learn. She is currently studying in Standard I at the Kherwadi Municipal School supported by Aseema. She is confident and intelligent. Mohini can identify all the consonants, frame simple sentences and knows basic grammar. Her desire to gain in-depth knowledge endears her to her teachers. With the help of ‘Activity Based Learning’ materials, Mohini can identify numbers up to millions and can perform addition and subtraction up to four digit numbers.

At the Annual Exhibition, Mohini presented an exhibit on communication through SMS (Short Message Service). She has been on excursions to the Nehru Science Centre, the Taraporewala Aquarium and Patwardhan Park. She was fascinated by the Pre-Historic Life models at the Science Centre.
