Dear Joe,

Thank you for gifting a year of schooling to Sherif Gouri.

Eight year old Sherif studies in Standard II at the Kherwadi Municipal School supported by Aseema. Sherif lives with his parents and two siblings in a small room in Santacruz, a suburb in Mumbai. His father, a tailor is the sole bread winner. Although economically challenged, Sherif’s parents are very supportive of their children and encourage them to attend school regularly.

Sherif has a charming smile and confident personality. He is always punctual and neatly dressed. Through the ‘Activity Based Learning’ approach, Sherif enjoys making discoveries and sharing them with his classmates. While learning the World Map, Sherif associated the shape of each country with a bird or an animal. He was proud to share his learning with his friends.

Sherif is comfortable speaking in English. At the Annual Exhibition, he narrated a skit on “Evolution of the Earth”. The skit was so popular that Sherif and his friends were requested for an encore. A gifted artist, Sherif secured first place at the Inter-school Drawing Competition held by the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM).

Sherif has been on study trips to Nehru Science Centre, Patwardhan Park and INS Vikrant – a naval aircraft carrier of the Indian Navy. His favourite trip was to INS Vikrant as he got to see different aircrafts.
